1. Sit tall in a chair with both feet flat on the floor.
2. Place one hand on the opposite knee and the other on the chair behind you.
3. Gently turn your upper body to one side while keeping your hips facing forwards.
4. Keep your spine tall and your shoulders relaxed. Hold for 20-30 seconds.
5. Return to the centre, then repeat on the opposite side.
Exercise notes:
● Twist from your upper back rather than forcing the movement through your lower back.
● Keep movements slow and controlled.
● Breathe steadily throughout the stretch.
Disclaimer:
Avoid deep twisting if you have a spinal injury or have had surgery recently.
Disclaimer: If you have been inactive for a while, have heart disease, or a close relative with heart disease or if you have other major health problems, or are pregnant, please check with your doctor before following these workouts.
