PODCAST SERIES

Clinician's Guide

Tune into the Clinician’s Guide podcast to hear from Queensland’s leading subject matter experts in our Healthy Kids, First 2000 Days and Women and Girls Health series. Each episode is designed to equip health professionals with valuable knowledge and expert insights, empowering you to work collaboratively with patients to build healthier habits together – one conversation at a time.

Weight stigma training

Health and Wellbeing Queensland has developed a suite of weight stigma training and resources to support health professionals integrate non-stigmatising health behaviour change conversations into routine care.

The suite includes Understanding the Science and Reality of Obesity for Better Patient Care – a 15-minute weight stigma training module developed by The Obesity Collective and adapted by Health and Wellbeing Queensland. This training module, along with supporting downloadable resources such as the BRAVE Framework, provides health professionals with evidence-based knowledge about obesity, helping to reduce stigma experienced by people living in larger bodies and improve patient care.

Framework

BRAVE Framework

The BRAVE Framework is an evidence-based tool for health professionals to support having a brief intervention conversation. It aims to create a safe, trusted and empowering space for initiating sensitive conversations about growth, weight and health behaviours during routine consultations. The BRAVE Framework is not intended to be a prescriptive script that replaces clinical judgement; rather, the examples are designed as flexible, evidence-informed suggestions to assist in guiding conversations.

BRAVE Framework for adults

This tool assists with initiating sensitive conversations about weight and health behaviours with adults.

BRAVE Framework for children and families

This tool assists with initiating sensitive conversations about growth, weight and health behaviours with children and families.
