Health and Wellbeing Initiatives

There are some great initiatives across Queensland already making healthy happen.  Whether it’s our very own programs, or great initiatives from other organisations, we’ve collated them here for your convenience. Enjoy.

The 10,000 Steps Program aims to encourage Australians to be active everyday through the monitoring of steps using activity trackers.
Safer roads encourage more people to walk, ride or scoooter more often. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility and is often best dealt with at a local level to ensure each community’s specific road safety needs are addressed.
Deadly Choices aims to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to make healthy choices for themselves and their families – to stop smoking, to eat good food and exercise daily.
Get Healthy offers free personal health coaching, providing the expertise and motivation to help individuals reach their health goals.
A social marketing campaign by Queensland Health, providing health tools, tips, recipes, food, fitness and exercises to encourage Queenslanders to move more and make healthier food and drink choices.
The Queensland Association of School Tuckshops (QAST) is a not for profit community organisation dedicated to the promotion and support of Queensland tuckshops in their endeavours to offer nutritious, hygienic and economically viable food services since 1996.
The Heart Foundation Walking program is Australia’s largest free walking network, consisting of walking groups led by volunteer Walk Organisers, as well as a virtual community of walkers who track their activity online.
The Jamie's Ministry of Food program is delivered through a partnership with The Good Foundation. The program delivers hands on food literacy and cooking skills courses, in a friendly, supportive and fun environment.
Life Education offers extra-curricular school-based health education using a mobile classroom and specially trained educators to present health and safety messaging through tactile and multisensory activities.
My health for life is a diabetes and chronic disease prevention program that targets Queensland adults at high risk of developing conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
Good Sports Healthy Eating is designed to give sporting clubs a head start. Helping people access healthy food isn’t just a huge win for the community and individuals; it can be a huge boost on game day.
Queensland Country Womens Association (QCWA) Country Kitchens program aims to support people living in regional, rural and remote Queensland communities to improve their health by adopting healthier lifestyle practices.
