Three ways to stay fit and healthy after your run

Just finished an organised run, achieved a personal best or a longer run than usual? Massive congratulations but don’t forget, your health and fitness journey doesn’t end at the finish line. Let’s keep moving and stay active post-run, to help you live a healthier life.

Here are 3 easy ways to stay fit and healthy, even after the race is run (or walked).

1. Go for a slow walk with friends and family

Walking is such a powerful exercise because of how easy it is to fit into your daily routine, plus you don’t need any equipment. Did you know just a 30 minute walk every day can lower the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes by up to 40%?

Going for a walk is also a great way to spend some extra time with friends and family, take a break from the office, boost your energy levels or just simply get some Vitamin D.

2. Join a social sport or walking club

Social sport is a great way to get your heart rate up without feeling like you’re actually exercising. It’s also the perfect opportunity to spend time with friends and even make some new ones along the way, which can work wonders for your mental wellbeing.

There are plenty of options around such as your local soccer, basketball, netball or Touch Rugby League clubs. Or if you’re looking for something with a little less intensity, slower paced social sports like golf and walking soccer are an option. Get out there and give it a try!

3. Continue your new love for organised runs or walks

There are plenty of opportunities to get out in the sun with the incredible Queensland community. Sign up for another event or join a weekly parkrun and keep your health and fitness journey alive!
