Pick me
Looking for something fresh, tasty and nutritious? Look for A Better Choice ‘Pick me’ promotions for a healthier option at participating outlets. We know dining out of home can make it hard to find nutritious, tasty and affordable options. Health and Wellbeing Queensland developed the ‘Pick me' initiative to help take the guesswork out of selecting your next meal or snack. Making it easier to identify nutritious options when eating out of home.
About Pick me
The guidelines of 'Pick me'
The ‘Pick me’ initiative is part of the A Better Choice Food and Drink Supply Strategy (A Better Choice). Health and Wellbeing Queensland are leading Queensland Government efforts to improve food environments, so Queenslanders have access to healthy food and drink options in places outside the home.
A Better Choice uses a traffic light system to classify foods according to their nutritional value. This is based on the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating, where products with the most nutritional value are classified as green. Look out for the ‘Pick me’ promotional materials highlighting where healthy options are sold.
Where can you find Pick me?
The ‘Pick me’ initiative can be found in select hospitals and large sporting venues across Queensland.
At participating venues, only food and drinks from the green category will be marked ‘Pick me’, to indicate that these are the healthiest options. Food and drink options from the amber and red categories will still be available in store, but will not be promoted.
*Pick me materials are applied by venue staff. Health and Wellbeing Queensland holds no responsibility for the incorrect application of these.
