Queensland Country Womens Association (QCWA) Country Kitchens program aims to support people living in regional, rural and remote Queensland communities to improve their health by adopting healthier lifestyle practices.
Program Inclusions
Along with upskilling members, the program offers hands-on nutrition workshops to the public as well as delivering healthy eating and healthy lifestyle initiatives in local communities. Their website contains a wide variety of resources including healthy recipes and simple steps to modify existing recipes to make them healthier.
Program Benefits
Improves food literacy and health of communities through connecting and supporting women who are empowered to identify opportunities to partner with local groups and/or agencies.
QCWA branches facilitate events focused on five key health messages that promote fruit and vegetable consumption, healthy eating and moving more.
Communities benefit from healthier food provision and health promotion activities led by local QCWA Country Kitchens volunteer facilitators.
Through this program, QCWA Country Kitchens facilitators and their local communities are provided an avenue to advocate for healthier environments.
QCWA Country Kitchnes is available to QCWA members and Branches across the state.
