Code of Practice and the Guide for Businesses

Offering healthier kids menu options can help attract new customers, provide new promotional opportunities, and most importantly, support better health for kids. If your venue is passionate about providing healthy food choices for children, the Queensland Healthy Kids Menu initiative is for you.

These practical resources are designed help you adapt your menus and serve healthier food and drink options to children.

Becoming a Queensland Healthy Kids Menu venue

Restaurants, café’s, hotels and clubs can become an approved Queensland Healthy Kids Menu venue.

Approved venues will have access to promotional resources to help get the word out to customers and provide greater exposure within your local community. This includes the Queensland Healthy Kids Menu tomato icon, which can be displayed beside the healthier items on your kids menu. Venues are encouraged to use the tomato icon to make it easier for families to choose healthier options.

To become a Queensland Healthy Kids Menu venue, businesses are required to ensure at least half of the meal choices on the kids menu are healthy and that healthy drinks are offered to children, with water both free and readily accessible. Check out the Code of Practice and Guide for Business for more detail.
