Pack healthy food and drinks

A great picnic starts with tasty food. These recipes from QCWA Country Kitchens and Healthier. Happier. can help you boost your healthy eating while enjoying your favourites. Remember to bring plenty of water too – keep it chilled and add fresh fruit slices and herbs such as mint leaves for a hint of flavour and freshness.

Be food safe

Healthy food is not just about nutrition – it’s also about safety. Always practice good hand hygiene and follow these food safety tips when preparing, storing, and eating foods.

Time to play

Pack a ball, frisbee, or try other activities the whole family will enjoy and play in the park while you picnic! It’s a great way to get moving and have fun with your household.

Practice self-care

Picnics don’t have to be a crowded affair. In fact, they can be a great opportunity to practice self-care. Why not combine your picnic with other wellbeing activities like reading a book, drawing, or writing in a journal.

Slip, slop, slap, seek and slide

Follow the COVID-19 guidelines

During the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s really important to be aware of the public health directives and follow them – for your safety, and for your community. Use the Queensland Government website to keep updated about Queensland’s social distancing guidelines, including for picnics.
