2025 GenQ Health and Wellbeing Community Accelerator Grants
Grant summary
Recipients of successfully completed projects funded through a 2023 GenQ Health and Wellbeing Community Grant are invited to apply for the 2025 GenQ Health and Wellbeing Community Accelerator Grants (GenQ Accelerator Grants).
The GenQ Accelerator Grants are designed to further support the impact of 2023 GenQ Community projects by providing access to apply for additional funding for these community-led initiatives.
An added feature of the GenQ Accelerator Grants is that each eligible applicant will have access to free, independent support to assist with refining and strengthening the design, implementation and evaluation of their project, building on their previously funded 2023 GenQ Community Grant. This support is provided through HWQld’s partnership with The University of Queensland’s Health and Wellbeing Centre for Research Innovation (HWCRI). Please note, this support does not include assistance with writing or completing the grant application.

Objectives
The objectives of the GenQ Accelerator Grants are to:
- Increase knowledge of nutrition and empower people and communities to increase consumption of vegetables and fruits, and support people to maintain a healthy weight to meet recommendations in the Australian Dietary Guidelines (2013) and Infant Feeding Guidelines (2012).
- Improve opportunities and access to increase levels of physical activity and support people to maintain a healthy weight to meet the relevant national Physical activity and exercise guidelines for their age group.
- Promote better sleep to increase the proportion of Queenslanders meeting the sleep and sedentary recreational screentime recommendations in the Physical activity and exercise guidelines and the Australian Sleep Health Foundation recommendations.
- Facilitate projects and activities to support wellbeing, including emotional, social, psychological, mental, spiritual and cultural wellbeing, and create community connectedness to align with the Queensland Children’s Wellbeing Framework and HWQld’s Wellbeing Approach.
- Facilitate improved access to health services and resources when and where Queenslanders need them, with a focus on promoting health equity.
Eligible applicants
Applicants must be previous recipients of a 2023 GenQ Community Grant who have completed their original funded grant project, and must continue to comply with the original 2023 GenQ Community Grant eligibility criteria, as follows:
- a not-for-profit or charitable organisation (as defined by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission)
- an incorporated association that is either based in Queensland or has a branch in Queensland
- an Indigenous Corporation (registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations)
- a Queensland local government authority
- a Queensland State School Parent and Citizens’ Association (P&C) or a non-state school Parents and Friends Association (P&F).

Funding
Applicants can apply for funding between $5,000 and $50,000 (excluding GST), with a total funding pool of up to $200,000 (excluding GST) available for this grant round.

Free specialist support to develop your application
Free, independent support is available to eligible applicants for GenQ Accelerator Grant applications through HWQld’s partnership with The University of Queensland’s Health and Wellbeing Centre for Research Innovation (HWCRI).
This support is designed to assist with refining the design, implementation, and evaluation aspects of your project. It does not include assistance with writing or completing the grant application.
Support includes:
- Access to pre-recorded webinars developed by the HWCRI team (links will be provided to eligible applicants only)
- Access to one-on-one online development sessions with HWCRI experts to help shape your project design, delivery approach, and project evaluation plan.

How to apply

- Eligible applicants consider accessing free specialist support for grant preparation through HWCRI during the application period. This support is available to assist the applicants in developing their project, implementation plan and evaluation approach.
- Discuss ideas with potential partners, stakeholders and colleagues, and gather data and material to support your application.
- Register and complete the online application form via the SmartyGrants online portal. You will find the application form via the link.

- Submit your application before the deadline, ensuring:
- you have completed all sections of the online application and attached any required attachments.
