Webinar: The health and economic benefits of making town centres more walkable

December 4 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm AEST

A group of seniors participate in an indoor walking group at a local shopping centre

This webinar, jointly hosted by the National Heart Foundation of Australia and Mainstreet Australia, will discuss the health and economic benefits of making town centres and main streets more walkable.

Improved walkability and higher quality business districts, which offer enjoyable, comfortable experiences, result in more people visiting more often, staying longer and spending more. This is good for heart health and for economic vitality. Dr Rodney Tolley has recently authored an update to the 2011 National Heart Foundation of Australia evidence paper. This webinar will feature a 30-minute presentation from Dr Tolley, followed by audience Q&A. Key recommendations will guide the design of town centres and main streets to boost local business and improve access for people walking, wheeling, and cycling.
